This experience has left me feeling so utterly swindled by Mr. DeNiro that I've decided to share my experience so hopefully others won’t feel fooled as I do. Assured my case could be settled informally, I wrote out what happened so he could send a demand letter. Then a couple days later he told me he didn't think we'd get a response and said to find another attorney and suit. I was then billed for almost all of my retainer, nearly five hours with no explanation of how he managed to spend so much time on one simple task. I requested a bill adjustment to two hours, and asked for prompt sharing of any responses due to the urgency of my situation. He then refused to adjust the bill or commit to forwarding communications, despite the risk of further damage to me if there are any delays. In a matter of just a few days I’m out almost all of my retainer for a letter that I could have sent myself (seeing as I wrote most of it), and now I’m back to square one looking for another attorney.
